Effect of rotor magnetic isolation dimensions on no‐load performance of ultra‐low speed high torque spoke type permanent magnet motor

This study investigates the effects of rotor magnetic isolation dimensions on no-load performance ultra-low speed high torque spoke type permanent magnet motor. The studied motor structures are shown, where parts include a barrier near air gap (MB-NAG), sleeve (MB-NMIS), (MIS). circuit model is performed and finite element analysis method used to analyse performance. Through analysing with three MB-NAG shapes, way narrow optimise dimension range considering reducing cogging increasing back-EMF synchronously concluded. results different MB-NMIS MIS show that: (a) optimised can increase thin in certain MB-NMIS, (b) proportion influenced by inversely proportional thickness MIS. feasibility effectiveness proposed structure conclusion experimentally verified.
